From Construction Equipment Guide... Mack Trucks unveiled a heavy-duty version of its Mack mDRIVE automated manual transmission. WSDOT Creates Tool to Help Truckers Avoid Low Bridges →

SEATTLE (AP) Hoping to avoid a repeat of the 2013 Skagit River Bridge collapse, state transportation officials have created a new online tool to help truckers plan their routes and avoid collisions. A section of that bridge on Interstate 5 fell into the Skagit River on May, 23, 2013, after a truck carrying a tall load hit the bridge in Mount Vernon, about 60 miles north of Seattle. When executives at Nicolozakes Trucking Company in Cambridge, Ohio, decided to buy a larger crane, the company spent months studying the options, looking at brands they had owned, and those they hadn’t. In the end, they chose to purchase their first Link-Belt crane, an HTC-3140 LB. Gordon Hospital Oversees Multi-Phase Addition →

From Construction Equipment Guide... In Calhoun, Ga., Gordon Hospital is overseeing a multi-phase addition that will add 59,000 sq. ft. (5,481.3 sq m) to the facility. The $37 million price tag, which covers construction and medical equipment costs, includes the renovation of another 11,500 sq. ft. (1,068.4 sq m) of existing space. “This new construction, which is part of our overall health care service strategic growth plan, will streamline services for us and make it easier for patients and visitors to navigate the facility,” said Pete Weber, president and CEO of Gordon Hospital.” In addition, growing services at Gordon Hospital keep more jobs in our local community.”Included in the new construction will be the creation of a new patient tower entrance on the Red Bud Road side — a more direct route to visit patients in the hospital’s inpatient areas, including the progressive care unit.  Click for more...

Guettler Brothers Construction of Fort Pierce, Fla., recently purchased 10 Caterpillar trucks from Ring Power Corporation of St. Augustine, Fla. In the past, the company utilized broker trucks for most of its jobs like many other construction businesses.
