Toyota Plant Site Cleared Weeks Ahead of Schedule →

From Construction Equipment Guide... The first of many construction projects involving the $1.3 billion Toyota automotive plant near Tupelo has been completed weeks early. Hill Brothers Construction Co. of Faulkner, Miss., recently finished the first contract, clearing the core site in Blue Springs. Agee Grading Contractors Inc. of McDonough, Ga., faced 80 acres (32 ha) of heavily timbered land in Covington that had to be cleared for a housing development. According to Owner Danny Agee, the building site was susceptible to extensive runoff due to severe elevation changes of upward to 300 ft. Komatsu America Corp.’s D275AX-5 Crawler Dozer Has Tier III Engine →

From Construction Equipment Guide... Komatsu America Corp. has introduced the D275AX-5 crawler dozer with Tier III engine. Developed primarily for ripping and dozing operations, the new machine is practical for aggregate, landfill, heavy construction and small mining applications. Komatsu’s new crawler dozer has an operating weight of 109,900 lbs. (49,850 kg) and features a powerful, clean SAA6D140E-5 turbocharged, after-cooled diesel engine, which provides a maximum net output of 449 hp (335 kW) — with hydraulic fan maximum speed of 410 hp (306 kW).  Click for more...

Hoopaugh and a partner purchased a Caterpillar D6 bulldozer for $13,500. “I’m sure it was completely financed,” said his son, Larry, who now runs Hoopaugh Grading. But Daniel found early success. A decaying and dangerous monument to one of the saddest chapters in the history of Philadelphia is currently in the process of disappearing from the urban landscape. It has been a long journey to reach this point. In 1980 David Chaves decided that the old bulldozer from his father’s farm should be used as more than a lawn ornament. The machine had been sitting idle since Dave’s father, Manuel, opted out of the dairy farm business he owned for 10 years. From Construction Equipment Guide... A small crew from Pete’s Trucking and Demolition were called to Boca Raton, FL, this summer to repair damage caused last year during Hurricane Wilma. The Plantation, FL-based company brought its Kawasaki 80ZV wheel loader and a Komatsu D39 bulldozer to build a 6-ft. tall berm along SR 441 for Boca Woods Country Club. From Construction Equipment Guide... On July l4, Kirk Trofholz, president of Barilla America Inc., journeyed to upstate New York to visit the site of the company’s largest current global investment. Barilla, headquartered in Bannockburn, IL, is constructing a pasta plant and distribution center in Avon, NY, situated approximately 50 mi. (80.5 km) from Buffalo and 23 mi. (37 km) from Rochester. Rainfall was the biggest challenge facing the project team of the soon-to-be completed $147-million Bolsa Chica Lowland Restoration Project in Huntington Beach, CA. According to Jack M. Landslide stabilization has been the biggest challenge facing the project team of the $100-million Wyoming Department of Transportation’s (WYDOT’s) Togwotee Trail project, according to Kaia Tharp, WYDOT’s Dubois, WY-based project engineer.
