(6.5 km) of reconstruction on I-85/SR 403. Davenport, Iowa-based general contractor, McCarthy Improvement Company began the work Jan. 23. From Construction Equipment Guide... When completed, a $6.6 million road construction project in Mobile, Ala., should relieve congestion on one of the city’s busiest roads. Under the auspices of the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), the contract calls for the widening of Hillcrest Road from Airport Boulevard north to Old Shell Road — a distance of nearly 1 mi. Hill Brothers Construction Co. of Faulkner, Miss., recently finished the first contract, clearing the core site in Blue Springs. According to Owner Danny Agee, the building site was susceptible to extensive runoff due to severe elevation changes of upward to 300 ft.
