Clarence Brown Conference Center Crosses Halfway Point →

On July 1, 2009, Bartow County civic leaders assembled to break ground on the new Clarence Brown Conference Center in Cartersville, Ga. Currently, the $20-million, LEED Certified facility is approximately 60 percent finished and is on track for an August 2010 completion date. Hogan Construction Group LLC, Norcross, Ga., is the general contractor on the project. Bartow County and each of its municipalities are jointly funding the conference center through special purpose local option sales tax proceeds, which also is funding a number of other local projects.  Click for more...


Nortrax Hosts Dig, Dine and Drive Event in Manchester →

From Construction Equipment Guide... Dig, Dine & Drive, hosted by Nortrax, was the biggest event going in the city of Manchester, Tenn., on March 24 and 25. Roughly 200 attendees checked things out at the Coffee County Fairgrounds on each of the two days. As guests arrived, they were greeted with welcome gifts and were given a comprehensive presentation of the Tier IV emissions system by John Deere representatives. Work on Alabama’s SR-9 Gets Under Way →

Rendell’s Accelerated Bridge Program, which is adding $200 million a year to the mix of federal and state funds the state invests in bridges. In 2009, the overall investment in bridges in Pennsylvania totaled more than $1.6 billion. In spite of nearly tripling spending on bridge repairs over the past seven years, Pennsylvania has the highest number of structurally deficient bridges in the nation, as reported by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).  Click for more...

The sale, a complete liquidation of Scholl Brothers Excavating, which recently decided to close after 50 years in business, featured a host of dozers, rubber-tired loaders, vibratory compactors and more. Sale highlights included a 1997 Caterpillar D5C LGP Series III dozer, which went for $13,000; a 1995 Caterpillar D5C Series III dozer, sold for $18,000; and a Caterpillar D6C dozer that fetched $23,000.  Click for more...

McArthur Court, nicknamed Mac Court and The Pit, is the second oldest on-campus gym in the country, according to UO’s sports history Web site. After many years of discussion, an ambitious project to ease congestion in Pennsylvania’s densely populated Bucks and Montgomery counties is finally under way with construction of a long-awaited parkway.
