Deciding to expand his business, he built a linoleum-manufacturing facility on Liberty Street in 1907, thus founding a company that would become famous for its tile flooring. For a century Armstrong World Industries manufactured this and other products at the facility. In 2007 Volvo Construction Equipment announced the development of a new product class of pipelaying machines targeting, primarily, contractors in the on-shore oil and gas industry. The first prototype of the Volvo PL4611 and the Volvo PL4608 are now in the field with production availability beginning in the second quarter of 2008. Crews have been at work for a little more than a year widening a nearly 2-mi. (3.2 km) stretch of Hillcrest Road in Mobile, Ala., to accommodate increased traffic flow in the growing area. The Case 750L and 850L, which replace the 750K and 850K, feature Tier III-certified, fuel-efficient Case Family IV engines. Powering the Case 750L dozer is a 4.5-L, four-cylinder electronic engine, which delivers 84 net hp (63 kW). John Deere Unveils 764 High Speed Dozer at ConExpo →

From Construction Equipment Guide... John Deere has unveiled the first new machine form the construction industry has seen in decades — the 764 High Speed Dozer (HSD). This rubber-tracked dozer combines the speed of a grader with the flotation of a crawler dozer. As a result, operators can perform grading and moderate dozing at approximately double the speed of a similarly sized crawler. TxDOT’s I-35 Work to Link Major Highways →

Two types of horsepower will soon be crossing ranch land south of Austin, Texas, now that State Highway 45SE (SH 45SE), is under construction north of Buda, Hays County. SH 45SE will link I-35 to the junction of State Highway 130 (SH 130) and U.S. 183 close to Mustang Ridge, with an eye to expansion as usage dictates.
