Komatsu Introduces Parallel Link Undercarriage System for Mid-Size Dozers →

Komatsu America Corp.’s parallel link undercarriage system (PLUS) on its D51EX/PX-22, D61EX/PX-15 and D65EX/PX/WX-15 crawler dozers can increase wear life, reduce machine downtime and lower repair and maintenance costs, according to the manufacturer. With PLUS, undercarriage wear is more balanced across all components. Bushings will no longer wear faster than the rails. The system is designed to wear evenly so that the machine provides close to 100 percent usage of undercarriage components, lowering undercarriage maintenance costs by up to 40 percent.  Click for more...

Topcon Draws More Than 170 Attendees to Sacaton →

John Deere’s new 764 High-Speed Dozer (HSD) fitted with Topcon Positioning System’s 3D-MC2 machine control was introduced to more than 170 attendees at Deere’s March 2009 Fleet Smart gathering in Sacaton, Ariz. The new 764 is a rubber tired, quad track earthmover that combines the speed of a motorgrader and the flotation of a crawler dozer. A year or so from now, the residents of Carroll County, Tenn., will be able to boat and fish on a lake covering 977 acres (395 ha), currently being created near Huntingdon. What’s more, voters were willing to approve a $10 raise in the wheel tax to contribute to the cost of providing this new amenity. By Zoie CliftCEG CORRESPONDENTA 9-mi. (14.5 km) bypass to west of the city of Sheridan is being built in Arkansas. When completed the route will be a four-lane divided highway anticipated to ease congestion along Highway 167. The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) let the first contract for the job in April of 2008 to T.J. (6.4 km) stretch of Route 21 eight months early. But on April 17, Triple-A baseball teams the Gwinnett Braves and the Norfolk Tides will face off in the Braves’ new minor league stadium at the transformed 44-acre (17.8 ha) site in suburban Gwinnett County, Ga.
