Komatsu to Showcase Intelligent Machine Control →

At the upcoming ConExpo-Con/AGG 2014, Komatsu America Corp. will showcase 24 models, including Komatsu’s line of intelligent Machine Control (iMC) dozers and new Tier IV Final compliant machines. There will be four iMC dozers, nine excavators, five wheel loaders, two trucks, two larger dozers, one tracked log loader and one forklift on display at Booth 10016 in the North Hall. Fritcha’s Construction Expands Levee With 1150M Dozer →

Fritcha’s Construction — a New Haven, Ind., firm owned and operated by brothers Troy and Todd Fritcha — recently completed a levee expansion project in New Haven to protect a golf course from the rising banks of the Maumee River. The Odessa, Texas, branch of Kirby-Smith Machinery Inc. sponsored a demo day on Oct. 8, featuring the world’s first automated grade control dozer, the Komatsu D61i-23 and the world’s largest variable reach forklift, the 49,600 lb. (22,498 kg) capacity Manitou MHT 10225 rough terrain forklift. The company is currently at work on a $3.5 million project with the help of a new GPS machine control system. The project includes two-lane roadways approximately 2 mi. (3.2 km) long, housing pads and storm drainage, reuse lines, water lines and sewers for The Viera Company in Viera, Fla. Caterpillar Expands Its Mini Excavator Range →

From Construction Equipment Guide... Caterpillar has added three models with operating weights of 2,061 lbs., 3,340 lbs. and 5,886 lbs. The 300.9D weighs in at just 2,061 lbs., making it the smallest machine in the Cat range. With an overall width of just 28.7 in., this machine is capable of driving through a standard doorway, providing easy access to the most confined job sites. A powerful water-cooled three-cylinder diesel engine produces 18.4 hp (13.7kW); along with a twin gear pump hydraulic system creates a maximum stick breakout force of 1,011 lbf (4.5kN) and a maximum bucket breakout force of 2,000 lbf (8.9kN).  Click for more...
